About Me

Living in a world full of stars and a spectrum of colour, I am an artist and designer, based in Northern Ireland, inspired by love, magic, astrology, mythology, nature and storytelling. Creating work which tells a story or reflects on a particular moment in time, I have a dreamlike vision in which I like to work with, using processes that incorporate colour and illusionistic qualities, offering something you can only imagine from a dream. Everything I create is special to me as it holds a concept, meaning or a story which is personal or has inspired me as an artist or as a person. A lot of work I create is influenced by nature as it holds dreamlike qualities and a magical form of escapism I wish to share with others. I also enjoy photographing and creating work in nature as it allows me to feel connected to the earth.

Nature has allowed me to grow, taking risks and exploring the unknown. It's so fascinating how it has really helped form me as an artist and influence my practice.

"To see something that others can’t see is unique, but to be able to capture the moment and share it for others to enjoy the secrecy of happiness is something greater than we can imagine."

For quite some time I didn't fully believe in my artistic abilities as I was always too dependant on what others had to say about my work and I always felt like I was holding back.

When I graduated I felt so lost and isolated and it was only then that I started to open up and fully express myself. I started experimenting with my artistic practice doing things that I always felt restricted from and it was great. I finally was able to share with the world all the things I wanted to for such a long time.

Artists who influence my vision include Alexander McQueen, Philip Tracey, Andy Warhol and Cindy Sherman. When creating my work what is most important to me is that I have a passion for what I am creating.

If you create something from the heart, that you love, then it doesn't matter what others think cause that piece is already loved and appreciated in this world, by you - Jordain Molloy Gillen
